Animus History
01 May
Upon arriving in Animus, Darres was met with a familiar face, one whom he called his wife. During their interaction, she had made an attempt to run from him. It was then, when he caught up to her, she began to talk. Through this discussion he not only learned that they were no longer in their own world. He also learned that Ishtar also wasn't really Ishtar, but a clone of her due to the tampering of the world she was in before (Facility.) The discussion escalated into a fight when Ishtar couldn't cope with the fact that Darres had accepted her as if she were the real Ishtar. Eventually their fight devolved into Ishtar crying and not wanting to be left behind again. Before long, Darres was able to bring her some sense of security, insisting that he wasn't going to be sent back anytime soon.
In addition to encountering Ishtar, his wife (and clone), he met two other individuals in the tower. A young individual who addressed himself as Ion, in a flower ridden room with severe drowsing effects if one were to remain their too long. And also a young woman whom went by Tohko, in the library where Darres searched for any valuable information. To his dismay, such information could not be found within reach of where they could travel in the tower.
Soon after his own arrival, more had followed; One in particular stood out. As Darres was beginning to adapt to his new environment, he had caught a child on the workshop floor about to get his fingers possibly taken off by a saw. This was the precursor for Darres eventually considering Quark, the boy, as one of his own. Since the boy's grandfather wasn't there, and he wasn't all aware of who was actually looking out for him.
02 June
One month into his arrival, and things started to turn sour for Darres. The towers' illusion system had failed, revealing the tower for what it really was: a lie. While it wasn't the most comfortable or anesthetically appealing place to live in, it was even worse without the false securities. He found out that everything they believed to be real, was just visually implemented. Their bodies were just scraps brought together in the form of a human, and what was suppose to be blood, was really the bright colored liquid of which they were plagued. Their beds were pods, revealing a type of rejuvenation when rested in.
Upon this discovery, Darres beelined to two people. First being Quark, a frightened and confused child. It had taken considerable effort and amount of time to bring him into a calmer state. Darres didn't expect to solve the boy's problem all in one go, but rather let him know he wasn't alone while he was suffering from it. Secondly, he hunted for Ishtar. Unfortunately for the couple (even if Ishtar was a clone of the original), Ishtar didn't handle the revelation as solidly as he did. Like he did with Quark, Darres had spent the effort to bring her to a calm state. True to his word, he didn't care if she was a clone, or a pile of materials thought up to be human. What was important to him was that Ishtar still who she claimed to be, and her reaction proved that. He neither cared or was outwardly affected by his newly found appearance. Of everyone, he was one of the few who handled it best.
03 July
In the following month, Darres realized that he knew next to nothing of the tower or the world he was on. He knew nothing of others or their worlds. It came to his attention that the only world he really knew, was his own, and even then, he didn't know much of that either. Figuring it would be more beneficial to know what was capable outside his world, Darres started to spend more time in the library that was available to the residents of the tower. He began to study up on concepts that have yet to exist in his own world, like electricity, science, space travel, and the like. While he's a novice at best in most of the subjects, he's far more educated than he use to be back in his own world. There was another whom spent majority of their time in the same library, though mostly to assist those in search of specific books (and to quell her own reading needs.) Darres became rather familiar with Tohko, a kind girl who helped him look for children's books in particular to read to Quark.
04 August
Like every month spent in Animus, it was customary for new arrivals to join the ranks of the tower people were forced to call home. Darres hadn't made much effort to get to know most of the individuals living with him. He had primarily spent his energy comforting the woman he called his wife, and the child he emotionally adopted upon his first month being there. He eventually did cross a outwardly stern woman known as Tear, a solider on her own world. They didn't share many commonalities, but Darres quickly grew fond of her.
Peace was never a thing when living in the tower, and that proved to be true later on when conspicuous figures began to stalk him around the tower. At first it was nothing overly concerning to him. He wasn't one to be weak in the face of an enemy; however, as the days went by, the shadows became more persistent. As far as he knew, these shadows were actually the people whom haunted him. Some of the words spoken by the shadows of the figures of the people he knew were cold, and sharp. Inwardly they had cast more of a scar than Darres expressed. As long as there were people to protect, Darres would be able to cast aside his personal worries for the sake of helping others. Ishtar was always his top priority. Like many times before, Darres only assured her that she had done nothing wrong, and that they were only out to torture her.
He mentioned to her, that she had grown considerably since the time he knew her. She was not just older in a different way, but more mature than he remembered her to be. In their sentimental conversation, he brought up that he hoped he didn't leave. Not because he liked here, but because he didn't want to leave Ishtar to fend for herself all over again, like she had before.
Nothing everything had a nice subtle ending. While he managed to save Ishtar from certain despair just by being there, Quark was not so lucky. For some reason or another, the boy had end up dying in his arms during the situation of the shadow stalkers. Whether it had been for lack of trust, or Darres not putting enough effort into their relationship. Either way, it opened his eyes that he was more powerless than he thought himself to be. There was little he could do to save anyone from this place.
05 September
The events prior to the upcoming one had finally started to wear him down. The fact that the tower only bared sorrow, and the fact that there was little in his power he could do. Not once, was he able to prevent Ishtar from crying, the very thing he vowed back at home, he would never let happen again. Yet another person he cared for, died before him. Nothing of what he did was enough, and he was beginning to feel useless because of it. Darres has relied on studying to help him cope with the events that transpired around him. Something a friend of his was well acquainted with. Ishtar had insisted he opened up to all of this with her.
A couple weeks after their divulging, the tower had conjured up more hysteria amongst the residents who lived there. There had been a series of explosions that had plagued the tower. In that, one of the admins visited the residents, but not with much help. Darres had approached him with the hope that he would spill any useful information or if there were alternatives to draw out the life of the tower. It was no secret that it was running out of energy and they needed a new source.
06 October
Darres hadn't put much effort into learning all of Ishtar's contacts. He wasn't ignorant of them, at the very least he was aware. The knight did find it to be important that she have a level of independence without him. The first relationship he indulged in of hers, was Sephiroth. Their engagement was not a pleasant one, but for some reason or another, Ishtar cared deeply for the coarse man. Darres didn't fully agree with this relation of hers, but he didn't discourage her from it either.
Incidentally, this was also the month that Ishtar celebrated his birthday. All serious things aside, there had been time to celebrate something as insignificant as his birthday. Darres only complied to please the woman he claimed to be his wife, despite the trials placed before them known as the tower.
07 November
Suddenly a carnival erected in the cafeteria of the tower. Darres never sourced the reasoning for it other than the fact that it was brought up by the admins for some intention or another. Due to the unusual pattern that took place, Darres' first instinct was to hunt for Ishtar. She didn't take the situation as seriously as he had, which he found to be frustrating. Darres couldn't repel her interest for long, or at all. Eventually he got suckered into joining her for such an event. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, Darres and Ishtar didn't last long enough for the bombs to go off. They were spared for any unsightly experiences many of the other residents had suffered from.
08 December
[Hiatus Period] For some reason or another, Darres had been shipped back to his own world, the very world that was destroyed as far as he knew. It only confirmed his suspicions about the destruction of his world being true, and the fact that he was virtually useless in saving it. While the duration of a month was not long in theory, it felt like forever, being the only known survivor of his world. His thoughts of doubt and uncertainty became cemented.
09 January
Darres spent majority of his free time as he always did. Anywhere from helping children, specifically Quark, to spending alone time with the woman he called his wife. It was a good time of unwinding compared to the month prior. The state in which his home was in scarred Darres. Knowing your world wasn't salvageable was one thing, but seeing it was another.
Nothing considerable had happened in January until the very end of it, and even then, it was to a select group of people, none of which were vital to Darres due to his lack of relations outside of his small network.
10 February
It wasn't until ten months in until Darres finally even learned how to use the computer system properly though Ishtar had showed him before. He managed to make conversation with a person who he was not so familiar with. The reason for his engagement was due to the fact that that Minato had mentioned some Valentine event that happened last year. Out of curiosity, and research, he bit.
Luckily for Darres, he was nowhere near any events that had taken place during this month, nor did he remain in the tower through to the end of February, to experience the event at the end. His conversation with Minato on the tech system would be his last vivid memory.
